Why Crochet a Wristlet?
Crocheting your own wristlet has several advantages:
- Customization: Choose your favorite colors and yarn type to match your personal style.
- Functionality: The wristlet is designed to securely carry your cell phone, keeping it within easy reach while you are hands-free for more important things.
- Simplicity: This project is perfect for beginners, featuring basic stitches that are easy to learn and master.
Just big enough to hold the small things you take with you on the go without the bulk of a handbag, a wristlet allows you to be hands free even when you have clothing with no pockets.
This wristlet is designed to keep your valuables safe with the addition of a single piece of hardware the strap fits through before you slip your hand through it.
This crochet wristlet pattern is worked with crochet stitches AND strap that resist stretching out of shape. That means even if you stuff in a 16-24 ounces of little things like your cell phone and key pouch it won’t lose shape or droop.

Materials needed to make a crochet wristlet
This pattern uses:
- two colors of category 4 cotton yarn
- tape measure or ruler
- tapestry needle
- crochet hooks: size recommended on label, 4 mm for strap, smaller hooks for other stitches
- hardware for strap to pass through, either a rectangle(shown), wood ring or D ring.
For the most finished looking wristlet, use mercerized cotton yarn like Lion Brand 24/7 100% cotton yarn. Value cotton works great too!
Pattern notes
This pattern is worked in the round. Yay, no seaming is needed.

No stretch crochet strap
Let’s talk about the wrist strap. This is a strap I designed years ago for the camellia handbag. It’s a simple series of stitches that don’t move once you finish the 4 rows. It’s also quite slim which makes it perfect for this project.
You can make it two tone or solid as shown in the images.

Why a crochet wristlet is a great gift
Think of making this in school colors for teens and college students! Got a friend with a love of pink? Make it in two tones of pink. If you have a dog owner on your gift list this is a great gift that will hold a phone and doggie bags on a walk.
