Materials to make a crochet bookmark
This pattern is for a comfortable beginner. What’s your crochet skill level?
Finished size shown is 9″ long plus 4″ fringe detail. The fringe is optional and you may work your bookmark as short or long as you like, just plan for extra yarn.
This design uses a wood ring as the foundation to add visual interest, plus I love to use wood rings in my projects. See this post on how many different ways you can use that bag of wood rings!
- 4 mm crochet hook
- 1 1/4 inch wood rings (I use rings from this set)
- light worsted weight yarn (a thin category 4) plan on about 12 yards depending on size you make
- Tapestry needle
- scissors
- optional small wood beads (beads shown are from dollar tree)
- you may find a small 2 mm hook useful for this to work the special stitch and to thread beads for fringe. (See this post on how many ways this tool is the ultimate finishing accessory for your projects)
For this pattern, I used Lion brand 24/7 cotton in white and Hobbi Friends 8/8 cotton yarn in eucalyptus. I like cotton yarn for projects like this that will get wear and tear going in and out of books because it won’t pill up like acrylic or acrylic blends.
