Quick and easy crochet Easter egg pattern
Easter is the perfect time to add a touch of handmade charm to your holiday décor, and these plushie crochet Easter eggs are as cute as they are fun to make!
Easter is my favorite holiday so I always go a little berserk with my Easter makes and decor.

Check out my free crochet tulip wreath pattern and craft project that uses Dollar Tree items to create a spring wreath.
Designed with beginners in mind, this easy pattern uses soft and fluffy category 6 chenille or velvet yarn, making each egg super squishy and irresistibly huggable. Plus, they work up fast, so you can whip up a whole basketful in no time!
Measuring about 4 inches tall when finished, these plushie eggs are a great alternative to traditional plastic eggs. I find this is the best size for this type of yarn. You can still comfortably work the yarn while keeping them somewhat petite.

Use them as festive decorations around the house, add them to Easter baskets for a handmade surprise, or even turn them into a fun sensory toy for little hands. With endless color possibilities, you can mix and match pastels, bright spring hues, or even create striped or speckled designs for a unique twist.
If you’re new to crochet or just looking for a fast and satisfying project, this pattern is perfect for you. With simple stitches and minimal sewing, you’ll have a batch of adorable eggs ready in no time. So grab your favorite chenille yarn, a crochet hook, and let’s get stitching—these plushie Easter eggs are sure to bring joy to your holiday celebrations!

Materials to make plushie crochet eggs
- 5 mm crochet hook
- Chenille or velvet yarn cat 5 or 6 (shown is Premier yarn Just Chenille available at Dollar Tree or online
- Polyfil or other stuffing (shredded paper, cat hair, scrap yarn) See this post on polyfil alternatives
- scissors
- tapesty needle with big eye or a 2-3 mm crochet hook to finish ends (see this post on how many ways you can use a slim hook to finish your projects)
Yarn alternatives: Norcia chenille, Premier parfait chunky, Temu baby yarn bundle, Premier retro velvet, Big twist plush yarn, Baby Bee Adoraball
Simple stitches with increases and invisible decreases (I show you how in the video tutorial) create a classic egg design.
Stuff as you begin to work decrease rows.
TIP: Because chunky yarns and plush yarns are sensitive to shaping, stitches and adjustments are magnified. For this project, I recommend after beginning the initial fill 2/3 of the way through, use a tapping method with your fingertips to encourage all sides into shape.
