This popular fun pattern works up in a day!
Big 2026 pattern update is here!
The potholders will be quite the conversation piece and bring a smile to you every time you see it while being wonderfully functional.
Beginner friendly stitches (but you should be an experienced crocheter to make this item) The clownfish uses a special stitch to add texture along with stripes for visual interest.

Skill level is experienced beginner to intermediate. You should be comfortable working in the round, color changes and working increase and decrease stitches. Video to help you get them just right. Cotton yarn is recommended for any item that may come into contact with heat.
Materials to make this pattern:
5.5 mm crochet hook, category 4 100% cotton yarn, a “hook” ring in wood or metal (there is an option to skip that and simply make a crochet loop) for hanging.
You will want to display these on the wall! Also, because they are naturally double thick having them hanging nearby your heat source will provide excellent heat protection for hands and wrists with the 14″ generous measurement.
Makes a nice trivet too!
The video tutorial will help with the stitches and finishing, like the tail and eyes, which will use a tapestry needle to do this detail work (it’s a fast finishing touch that brings everything together).
Pattern is tested and tech edited for a great result.
